A new patch means a new raid in Final Fantasy XIV. This raid marks the beginning of Final Fantasy XIV’s Nier cross-over, so you’re probably wondering how to unlock YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse. Complete the main scenario, and the side quest “Word about Komra.”. The Duty Finder is a gameplay mechanic in Final Fantasy XIV. It allows players to queue up for instanced dungeons, trials, raids, guildhests, or Player-versus-Player (PvP) content without first needing to be part of a pre-made party. This system does support pre-made parties, however, and will fill in empty slots as needed. 1 Using the Duty Finder 2 Duty Roulette 2.1 Leveling 2.2 Level 50/60.
Complete the main scenario, and the side quest “Word about Komra.”
Before you can even step foot into the new Nier raid, you not only need to be level 80 and have completed the main scenario (which, is a given), but have completed the side quest Word about Komra in Kholusia. You can grab it from The Gossipy Dwarf in Tomra (X:12.9, Y:8.7). It’s not hard: you’ll head to the dig site at the nearby Duergar Mountains, talk to Anogg, and then find an automaton core, followed by a mining lantern. From there you’ll return to the Gossipy Dwarf and complete the quest.
Talk to the Gossipy Dwarf to start the quest chain for YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse.

With that quest out of the way, you can talk to the Gossipy Dwarf once more to grab the quest A Scandal in Komra. This will lead to a quest chain, and completing it will unlock the raid. At this point you can queue into the raid using the Duty Finder. After conquering the raid (good luck), you can finish up the quest chain.
The minimum item level required for the raid is 435, and like previous raids there is a one item a week lockout on loot, so be sure to roll on items you actually need. You will be rewarded with two Cracked Stellaclusters and one Manufactured Coin per week. The coin can be exchanged in Eulmore to enhance equipment you purchased with Allagan tomestones of phantasmagoria.
That’s how to unlock the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse raid. It doesn’t deviate too far from established norms, but if you skipped all the side quests in Shadowbringers you may have to do some catching up.

One of these is the Crystal Tower storyline, and you can’t wrap up the post-A Realm Reborn story until you’ve finished the quest “The Light of Hope”. This quest is at the far end of the Crystal Tower arc, meaning you’ll need to clear all three wings of the raid to move on.
The Crystal Tower quest-chain starts in Mor Dhona.
“The Light of Hope” requirement doesn’t occur till you are deep within the post-ARR MSQ, so you’ll want to plug away at the post-ARR story until it tells you to complete that specific quest. You will need to be iLvL 55 to access the first wing of the Crystal Tower raid, The Labyrinth of the Ancients, but the updated loot tables from both quests and dungeons should get you up and over this barrier.
Once you’ve reached the quest “A Time to Every Purpose” and are sitting at or above iLvL 55 grab “Legacy of Allag” from the Outlandish Man (X: 21.8 Y: 8.1) in Mor Dhona. This will kick off the Crystal Tower arc, and all you need to do is follow it to reach “The Light of Hope”. Clearing the wings won’t be much of an issue: they’re part of the Alliance Raid roulette, meaning high-level players dominate the alliances. While you shouldn’t ignore mechanics entirely, you’re likely gonna get carried. That said, there is no limit on loot in the Crystal Tower raids, so grab any upgrades you can – they’ll make later quests easier.
The story is lengthy, but I recommend watching all the cutscenes. The Crystal Tower story was made a requirement for a reason. The events in this arc play a large role in the Shadowbringers expansion, so unless you give zero shits about the story you’ll want to pay attention. Once you clear the third wing, The World of Darkness, you’ll move on to “The Light of Hope”, and once that’s cleared you’ll be able to resume your progress in the post-ARR MSQ. There are two quests that follow “The Light of Hope”, but they are not needed to move on with ARR. I recommend them for the extra story, but you can ignore them if you so choose.
